Engineering Sailmaking
Millenium was born from the convergence of tradition, technological innovation and materials research, with the goal of delivering a tangible performance. We design and build custom sails for every type of sailing program, from cruising to racing to superyachts, by combining artisanal expertise, advanced design and innovative materials. This is Engineered Craft™. For us, sailmaking is a balance between experience at sea, technical knowledge of materials, and construction expertise. Every sail is created with the goal of meeting the specific needs of each individual owner or team.
Sailmaking tradition since 1981
OUR HISTORY
Millennium was founded in 1981. Established in Florence, sailmaking began as an independent project dedicated to research, technological experimentation, and the construction and development of high-quality custom sails for the cruising and racing world.
From its earliest years, the company distinguished itself through its research into materials and the introduction of innovative technological solutions in the world of sailmaking.
Over time, the company developed patents and proprietary construction systems, including Tape Drive, ARXE, and Monolithic, designed to optimize fiber distribution by constructing continuous-fiber sails in a single piece and improving the sail’s structural efficiency.
As early as 1986, Millenium was among the first companies in the industry to develop continuous-fiber sails, pioneering solutions that would become the benchmark in international sailmaking.
In 2000, the company introduced one-piece lamination systems, taking manufacturing precision and structural quality to a higher level.
These solutions are the evolution of an approach that Millenium has developed over the years: engineered craftsmanship.
This method allows an independent sailmaker to compete with the major international brands in the industry while maintaining the flexibility and precision of handcrafted production.
Thanks to technological research and the development of proprietary patents, Millenium has built a solid reputation over time on the international sailmaking scene, producing high-performance and reliable sails for racing, performance cruising and superyachts.
Today, more than 60 partner sailmakers worldwide work with technologies developed by Millenium, while sails produced by the Technology Center equip cruising yachts, racers, performance cruisers and superyachts that sail all over the world.
Today, Millenium is entering a new phase in its history: a new generation at the helm of the company is carrying forward the sailmaker’s technical expertise with an eye toward the future.
Since 2020, when the world came to a standstill, the company has instead embarked on a new phase of development by expanding its Technology Center and bringing together design, lamination, compression molding of membranes, and sail construction under one roof.
Technological innovation, brand development, and new design visions accompany the evolution of a company that continues to believe in the same idea it has always believed in:
designing sails built to sail better.

WHERE WE ARE
The Millenium Technology Center represents the heart of sailmaking and is located in the Mediterranean, the setting for some of the world’s most prestigious regattas.
The Vaiano facility is housed within a historic Tuscan industrial complex dating back to the 1400s, which has been renovated over the centuries. Here, manufacturing tradition, research, and innovation still coexist today under one roof: the “cartaia.”
Here, design, materials research, and sail construction all take place under one roof. This enables Millenium to maintain direct control over quality, performance and technological development.
Our Technology Center produces sails designed for every need—from cruising to racing to ocean voyages—used by boat owners and sailors around the world.

Millenium is a team of sailmakers, designers and sailors.
At the helm of the company is a new generation of young professionals with a solid background in sailmaking, design, and the development of sails for cruising, regattas and the most complex custom projects.
The new ownership stems from firsthand experience gained within the sailmaker’s workshop: a generational transition built on technical continuity, mastery of the craft, and the determination to lead Millenium into a new phase of development.
At the Millenium Technology Center, design and production work together to develop custom sails tailored to every sailing program; each sail is crafted through genuine expertise, direct consultation with the end user, and continuous monitoring of the production process.
From design to construction, every phase stays in the hands of the team.
